New Graduate Nursing Job – Where to Find Them
If you have just freshly graduated from nursing school then you have many things to be excited about. You are about to embark on a journey of a lifetime and fulfill your nursing career dreams. The next step for you to do this though is to find a job. This can be easy if you know what to look for and where to find it. Here are some great places to start looking.
Local medical poster boards
You can find these in many hospitals, clinics and other medical establishments. They are posted for people like you and list all of the latest job opportunities available in that particular establishment. You may have to ask around a bit to find them but once you do, they provide some great opportunities.
Networking
This is a great way to find a nursing job. People are the best way to spread news and in this case, job openings as well. Check out some local medical meetings, events or seminars that may be going on. While you are there, talk to as many people as you can. The more people who know who you are, the more chance that you will find someone who knows just the right place for you to work. It is also good to know people within the medical field because many times, the real good jobs will be posted privately within the facilities and the only way to access them is to know somebody on the inside who can tip you off on the position opening and possibly provide a reference for you too.
Job fairs
Job fairs are constantly taking place. Some of them are specific to a field and others are in general. They are listed in the paper often but you can also call around to some local hospitals and check if there will be a fair happening soon. The good thing about fairs is that there are many employers located in the same building and they are only there because they are looking for employees so you know your chances are good of getting hired.
Lastly if you don’t mind temporary or traveling work, you can sign up with a nurse travel agency. They often will hire new graduates. Once you are accepted by them, they provide you with work. The work will be mostly temporary though and you will be moved around a lot from place to place. The nursing positions are many and waiting so put together a nice looking resume or profile, get into your best dress slacks and happy job hunting!
